The annual Student-Alumni Career Day hosted by the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics was an opportunity for Managerial Economics majors to learn how successful Managerial Economics alumni landed their positions around the business world.
“It was a great way to learn from accomplished UCD grads,” said attending student Jet Renslo. “My greatest takeaways were to always ask questions and that there are many options for Managerial Economics majors.”
Held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a Saturday in the fall quarter, workshops were offered about finance, internships/study abroad, marketing/sales, accounting/risk management, business operations, management, consulting/human resources, data analytics and investment banking.
“I’ve truly never seen students so eager to be at a voluntary on-campus event on a Saturday,” said UC Davis Internship and Career Center Advisor Christina Cadang, who co-led the internships/study abroad workshop. “Students were enthusiastic to be there and asked thoughtful questions.”
As usual, a highlight of the event was the hour of student-alumni networking that ended the day. During the hour, alumni sat at tables with a sign naming their profession. Students could sit at any table in order to ask questions, learn tips, and make connections.
“All of our returning alumni were gracious and helpful,” said Justin Smalley, undergraduate advisor in Managerial Economics. “Our department thanks them, and we’re all very proud to be able to annually offer this truly beneficial event for Managerial Economics students preparing to enter the job market.”
