Bench Dedicated in Memory of Late Managerial Economics Major, Blair Fox
Oct. 18, 2019
On Monday, September 30, Helene R. Dillard, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, welcomed family and friends of Blair Fox, a second-year managerial economics major who passed away in December 2017 while helping a friend in a skiing accident. Blair's parents, Warren and Margo Fox, and their son Warren Jr. shared stories and memories near a bench that was dedicated outside of the Social Sciences and Humanities building.
Blair was a world traveler with a strong desire to expand his knowledge. He was an avid learner, hard worker, and optimist. A Sacramento native with an international upbringing, Blair loved UC Davis and impacted many of his peers through his involvement in Sigma Nu fraternity and the Model United Nations club. Blair applied the knowledge he gained from his own experience growing up and coming of age in the United Arab Emirates to his volunteer work as a mentor of international students at UC Davis.
Fox’s father, Warren Fox, shared memories of his son:
“I think we remember him like most people as not only warm and loving, but a really true friend
to all and very curious about the world and people,” Warren Fox said.
In addition to the bench dedicated in Blair's memory, Fox's family and friends chose to honor Blair's legacy through the establishment of an endowed memorial scholarship. It is the goal of the Blair Fox Memorial Scholarship Endowment to support undergraduate students who, like Blair, embody outstanding citizenry and an inclusive global conscience.
