April 30, 2019
Interested in a career in the produce industry? Then you’re invited to apply for an all-expenses-paid trip to the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit Oct. 17–19 in Anaheim. The expenses are sponsored by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Dean’s Office in collaboration with UC Davis Alumni.
According to the group of UC Davis students who attended the 2018 PMA Fresh Summit, benefits of attending include: immersion into the produce industry; networking with professionals; learning about new products, processes and marketing strategies; attending Forums of the Future; and meeting influential industry leaders. The students’ takeaways of attending included: practicing networking and interview skills (elevator pitch); receiving advice and encouragement from professionals; creating many UC Davis alumni contacts; experiencing the passion and expertise of the industry; and “Free samples!”
“I was blown away by the passion of everyone I met, the innovation, the comradery, and the sheer size of the industry,” said attending UC Davis student Amanda Gilchrist. “There is no other industry like agriculture and PMA proves just that.”
Four UC Davis will be chosen to attend the PMA Fresh Summit Oct. 17–19, 2019. Click here to view a flyer about the opportunity and for directions on how to apply.
